Paying tribute to the king (WIP)

A wip photo of my latest project showing the shield and banners that will be placed on the wall, a figure (a drummer converted from Alex's Medieval Musicians set) presenting his gift to the king, a shield (from Zvezda's Spartans set) and a bear fur. More will come soon :)

Adventurer...

This is a "ninja" from the Zvezda 1:72 Ninjas set. I used pieces from different sets and turned him into an adventurer on a journey. This piece is also kind of an experiment I did. I used nothing but cheap craft acrylics. I liked the results. Hope you like it too :)

A little new year's gift...

This is the first project I completed in a very long time. Now that I have become a freelancer again, I hope to spend more time to my hobby. Here is a little gift I made for my wife. A little guy from Alex's wonderful Medieval Children set and a snow man he created in his own image :)

And now for something completely different...

This is the first Warhammer figure I painted. It's a Swordmaster of Hoeth from the Island of Blood set. It's the "biggest" figure I painted so far. I'm looking forward to hear any criticism, advice etc.

In the mean time, I'm working on a huge 1:72 scale diorama. Hope to share some photos soon.

Zvezda Viking King and Standard Bearer (Finished)

It's been a long time since I updated my blog. The thing is I had to move my house and couldn't touch my hobby stuff for more than a month. Now I have a new flat which is much better than the old one. And a one month long holiday is before me :)
I finally finished my Vikings vignette. This is my second vignette. I tried hard to emulate the stormy sea effect. I used a modelling technique I learned from one of dreamspiritwargaming's videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFSMpb6QZ_w&feature=relmfu In this video Milos shows how to make snow effects using white glue, white paint and baking soda. I used this technique to create water foam. The base is dental plaster and DAS modelling clay. I modelled the waves with these and than used the baking soda mix to create the foam. After that I painted the waves with a "crystal gel" material that I bought from the hobby section of my local art store. It's a water based product used to create textured glass effects. It dries clear and gloss. And finally I drybrushed white. Hope you like the final result :)

And a little teaser of my next project: a kinght from Italeri's English Knights and Archers set. I don't know if he is "historically accurate". I painted him more like a "generic" men-at-arms for my medieval fantasy project. Hope to paint the rest of the gang very soon :)

Zvezda Persian General and Standard Bearer

Recently I have been so busy with work I couldn't find time to photograph these little guys. Finally, I have a five days (hopefully) holiday. I hope to finish the water effects for the Viking vignette and start on the Italeri English Knights and Archers set. Meantime I photographed this piece. I am not particularly happy with how the pictures came out but I couldn't resist the temptation of sharing :) Enjoy and hope to see you soon.

"King of the Hill" or "Capture the Flag"; depends on your viewing angle :)

Thank you everyone for your encouraging comments. Here is something I shared on http://bennosfiguresforum.com/ before. This is my first vignette. It's still a WIP. Hope you like it. See you :)
